Illustration 18: Retired Gray's Pottery employee May Salt demonstrating banding a plate already decorated with a silver lustre lion. The lion had been painted by another retired employee, Phyllis Harrison, who regularly did this design, thought to have been created by Sam Talbot, in the 1940s and 50s.
